Description

The Trifid Nebula here is probably the best image I’ve captured to date, despite shooting through a thick layer of smoke because half of California is burning. Since many Firefighters and crews are putting their lives on the line to save countless property, pets, livestock, land, and humans beings , this one here is dedicated to them. Man I hope this state gets some rain quick. This was shot through a C9.25 using the .7x focal reducer (1645mm FL) using a zwo 071 cooled camera. Gain setting at 100, exposures set to 180 seconds. A total of 24 exposures. No flats or darks taken. Processed in pixinsite. The Trifid is one of the more beautiful objects in the sky because it showcases three types of nebula. Dark nebula and the lanes you see here which obscures background features, reddish emission nebula which emits light due to gases being ionized by hot nearby stars, and blue reflection nebula...this one here is a star nursery. Thanks for looking.
